The University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State, has acknowledged the receipt of ₦21,540,800 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for 226 student beneficiaries under the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a letter dated August 3, 2026, signed by the University Registrar, Bimpe Omoyiwola, fcpm, the funds were received in two tranches on July 24, 2026.
The first tranche amounted to ₦19,118,700 for 200 students, while the second tranche of ₦2,422,100 was for 26 students, bringing the total to ₦21,540,800 for 226 beneficiaries.
The university management expressed appreciation to NELFUND for the initiative, describing it as an invaluable intervention that provides affordable and accessible tertiary education to Nigerian students.
The Registrar further reaffirmed the university's commitment to transparency, accountability and strict adherence to the operational guidelines governing the NELFUND scheme.
The disbursement is expected to provide financial relief to the beneficiaries by supporting their educational expenses and helping them continue their studies without financial disruption.
