Enugu State is gearing up for a major youth-focused engagement as the maiden edition of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 draws closer, with just one week to the highly anticipated event.
The programme, scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, is being convened by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze, under the theme: “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission.”
The event is already generating considerable interest among young people across the state, particularly students, graduates, entrepreneurs, job seekers and professionals looking for credible pathways to career advancement, entrepreneurship and personal development.
Unlike conventional youth programmes that often revolve largely around speeches and ceremonial engagements, Peter Eze Youth Connect is being positioned as a practical platform focused on information, access, guidance and opportunity discovery.
The initiative is coming against the backdrop of a recurring challenge among young Nigerians: the existence of opportunities that many qualified youths either do not know about, cannot easily access, or lack sufficient information on how to pursue.
Through the programme, participants are expected to gain exposure to opportunities in employment, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, government programmes, digital skills, entrepreneurship, career development and leadership, among other areas.
Eze said the initiative was conceived to help young people move beyond simply knowing that opportunities exist to understanding how to identify, apply for and maximise them.
“Our objective is to help young people understand where legitimate opportunities exist, how to identify them, how to apply, what is required, and how to position themselves for success,” Eze said.
According to him, many young Nigerians have the qualifications, talent and determination required to succeed but are often held back by inadequate access to timely, accurate and credible information.
He said Peter Eze Youth Connect was therefore designed to bridge that information gap by creating a platform where Enugu youths can learn, connect, prepare and position themselves for opportunities available within Nigeria and internationally.
The programme is expected to draw participants from across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, bringing together young people with diverse backgrounds and aspirations.
Eze has urged Enugu youths to take advantage of the platform, stressing that having access to the right information is only the first step, while preparation, competence and determination remain critical to converting opportunities into tangible results.
He also encouraged young people to abandon a passive approach to career and personal development, urging them to actively seek out opportunities and acquire the skills and knowledge required to compete effectively.
With only seven days to go, expectations are steadily building around Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026.
For many young people in Enugu, the September 10 gathering is shaping up not merely as another youth event, but as a potentially significant platform for discovering where the opportunities are, how to access them and what it takes to turn them into real-life results.
