The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crimes with the arrest of a notorious suspected kidnapper, John Chinagorom, who had been on the Command’s wanted list following his alleged involvement in a heinous kidnapping case reported on 15th April 2025.
The suspect, who had been evading arrest for months, was finally apprehended in Zaria, Kaduna State following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Ozubulu Police Division at around noon on 1st August 2025. Chinagorom had reportedly gone into hiding in a distant northern city in a bid to escape justice, but his cover was blown when he was sighted at PZ Park Road in Zaria.
Acting with precision and speed, detectives from the Division immediately mobilized to Kaduna State. With the full cooperation of the Kaduna State Police Command, the joint operation successfully nabbed the fugitive at his Zaria hideout.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra State, the suspect is now in custody and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations into his criminal network and operations.
SP Ikenga also reassured the public that the security situation in Anambra remains calm, as law enforcement continues robust joint security patrols and counter-terrorism operations across the state.
He concluded by stating that further updates on the investigation and prosecution will be communicated in due course.
This arrest marks a significant milestone in the relentless effort by security agencies to ensure that fugitives, regardless of how far they run, are brought to justice.
