Yesterday , The Mayor Of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Barr Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze joined the women of Ibagwa-Aka at their Annual August Return; a remarkable homecoming that not only celebrates womanhood but also unites communities around shared values and aspirations for community progress and development.
It was a moment to reaffirm his administration’s deep appreciation for the women of Ibagwa-Aka, whose steadfast contributions to community development remain a cornerstone of social cohesion and progress of the generality of Ibagwa-Aka. Their strength, organisational capacity and commitment to peace and unity continue to inspire our governance philosophy.
In partnership with the Association, His administration complemented this year’s Return with a free medical outreach, offering general health examinations and dispensing essential medications to the people. This is in line with the broader objective of bringing quality healthcare closer to the people, particularly at the grassroots level. It also speaks to the inclusive and people-driven model they have adopted under the transformative leadership of His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah , whose vision for Enugu State is one of disruptive innovation across all key sectors; health, education, security, agriculture, and local enterprise.
As he addressed the women, he could not help but feel a deep sense of pride and responsibility. Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze reminded them that women are indeed the invisible architecture that sustains our social fabric. Their wisdom, courage and resilience are indispensable in our pursuit of a more prosperous and secure future for Igbo-Eze South. He reassured them that his administration remains fully committed to supporting their aspirations and expanding the frontiers of collaboration with the Association, whose legacy of impact is already visible across Ibagwa-Aka.
The council Chairman was also deeply moved by their kind words of prayer through the President of the Association, Barr. Martina Oluchi Eze, whose leadership reflects the calibre of women the local Govt is blessed with . Her reaffirmation of the Association’s support is not taken for granted, and he remain open to continuous engagement as his administration drive forward a governance model that is participatory, responsive and purpose-driven.
Standing in solidarity with the women of Ibagwa-Aka today re-energised the Mayor's belief that real governance begins at the grassroots. When we listen and act with empathy, we are not just delivering policies, we are building communities.
