BREAKING NEWS!! Gunmen Attack Majority Leader's Convoy, Kill Two Police Orderlies

The Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen who allegedly ambushed and killed two police orderlies attached to the Majority Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, who represents Afikpo North-West constituency.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday at the Okigwe axis in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. According to reports, the lawmaker was traveling with his team when one of their vehicles developed a mechanical fault, prompting a brief stopover. While the rest of the convoy moved ahead, the two officers stayed behind to secure the area and the vehicle.

It was during this period that they were reportedly ambushed and fatally attacked by unknown gunmen.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, had ordered an immediate and thorough operation to apprehend the perpetrators. He emphasized that security operatives were already combing nearby bushes to track down the suspects.

“The command will not rest until those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice,” Okoye stated during a telephone conversation with DAILY POST on Monday.

The bodies of the fallen officers have since been evacuated to a morgue, and investigations are ongoing.

This incident adds to the growing concern over the safety of security personnel and public officials in southeastern Nigeria, a region grappling with escalating insecurity and targeted attacks.
