Tragedy struck at the Government House Lodge in Minna, Niger State, on Friday, August 2, 2025, as an unidentified man suddenly collapsed and died while attempting to visit a top government official.
According to reports confirmed by the Niger State Police Command, the deceased had gone to House No. 8 at the Government House Lodge to see Mr. Sammy, the Chairman of Niger Foods. However, upon learning that his host was unavailable, the visitor suddenly took ill and collapsed on the premises.
Emergency medical personnel from the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna were immediately contacted, but by the time they arrived, the man had already passed away.
Following a distress call, operatives from the GRA Police Division arrived at the scene, documented the incident, and evacuated the body to the mortuary of the IBB Specialist Hospital. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown as investigations continue. The incident has raised concerns among residents and staff within the Government House area, with many calling for improved medical emergency response and screening protocols for visitors.
