Former Governor of Adamawa State and ex-Senator for Adamawa North, Mohammed Umaru Bindow, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Bindow’s switch was confirmed after he registered as a member and received his party card in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state. The development was also shared through multiple social media platforms on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Bindow served as governor of Adamawa from 2015 to 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and prior to that, represented Adamawa North in the Senate between 2011 and 2015.
His entry into the ADC marks a significant political shift, as the party continues to attract high-profile figures in the state. Notably, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senator Aisha Binani, the APC’s 2023 governorship candidate in Adamawa, have also reportedly aligned with the ADC.
Political analysts say Bindow’s defection is expected to boost the ADC’s grassroots mobilization and strategic plans ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in northern Adamawa.
His move adds to the growing trend of political realignments and power repositioning across Nigeria as the race toward 2027 gains momentum.
