BREAKING: Nigerian Governor Bans Sale of Petrol

In a bold move aimed at curbing insurgency and enhancing security, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has banned the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki.

The announcement was made in Maiduguri on Saturday by Malam Dauda Iliya, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy. Iliya stated that the ban followed extensive consultations with security agencies in response to growing threats in the region.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area,” Governor Zulum declared, emphasizing the urgency of the directive.

The governor issued a stern warning to individuals and businesses, stating that violators would face severe consequences. “Let me make it clear, there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban,” Zulum warned.

Security operatives have reportedly been instructed to clamp down on any filling station or individual flouting the directive.

Zulum reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and stability in Borno State, urging the public to cooperate with ongoing efforts to cut off resources to insurgent groups operating in the area.

The fuel sale ban is the latest in a series of strategic security interventions by the Zulum administration in the insurgency-affected northeastern region.
