The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl who was allegedly trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for ₦100,000.
According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, the child, renamed Chiamaka Favor for protection, was rescued by NAPTIP’s Abia Command on May 8, 2025, following her disappearance in February.
The suspected trafficker was apprehended by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia State and handed over to NAPTIP. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect collaborated with three different trafficking syndicates based in Abuja to carry out the crime.
NAPTIP has launched a full investigation and is calling on the biological parents or any relatives of the child to urgently come forward and contact the agency.
The rescue highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to clamp down on child trafficking and protect vulnerable minors across the country.
