In a dramatic twist in Rivers State politics, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the Sole Administrator of the state, has summoned suspended Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara and his Deputy Dr. Ngozi Ordu for a formal inquiry.
The session is set for Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt and will focus on political appointments made by the Fubara-led administration over the last two years.
According to Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, Secretary to the State Government, Fubara is expected to present documents and justifications for all such appointments. The summons also demands that both Fubara and Ordu appear in person.
The move has sparked intense debate and criticism, especially regarding the legality of a military-background administrator subjecting a democratically elected governor to scrutiny. Critics warn this could worsen the already tense political climate in Rivers State.
The Sole Administrator maintains the process is part of efforts to restore transparency and accountability in governance.
