On Tuesday, an Ikeja High Court struck out a defamation lawsuit filed by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, the artist Falz, against Instagram activist Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM). The suit stemmed from a video posted by VDM referencing an audio recording allegedly involving cross-dresser Bobrisky, which implicated the Falanas in justice perversion. Each claimant demanded N500 million in damages.
However, none of the parties were present during the court session. The respondent's counsel mentioned filing a stay of proceedings application before another judge. The presiding judge, Justice Matthias Dawodu, questioned why he was handling the matter when the main case was pending elsewhere. He ruled that continuing would be an “academic exercise” and therefore struck out the suit.
