Popular Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has called out the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over a grammatical mistake in one of its social media responses.
JAMB had responded to Peter Obi’s concerns that students were being forced to leave their homes too early to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In its official post on X (formerly Twitter), the Board stated:
“@PeterObi, Your Excellency… While verification and other clearance processes begins at 6:30am…”
Henshaw, reacting via her handle, corrected the board, saying:
“By the way @JAMBHQ, it’s not ‘while verification and other clearance processes BEGINS’ — it is ‘BEGIN!’ I had all my education in this country. It was never this bad.”
Her correction quickly gained attention, sparking debate about language accuracy in official communications from public institutions.
