BREAKING: SAD NEWS! Council Chairman Is Dead!



...His death comes less than a year after he assumed office as council chairman in July 2024;

The Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Hon. Shuaibu Babas, has passed away. He died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after battling a long-term illness.


Babas, a seasoned public servant, had previously represented Fufore/Gurin in the Adamawa State House of Assembly. He also served as the sole administrator of the Malabu Development Area, earning him a respected place in the state’s political landscape.

Though the nature of his illness was not disclosed, a family source confirmed that he had been unwell for an extended period before his passing. He was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

In the wake of his death, attention has turned to his deputy, Hon. Peace Samson Audu, who may assume the role of acting chairperson. If confirmed, she would be the first woman to occupy the position in Fufore LGA in many years.

Hon. Audu is one of 21 women who were inaugurated as vice chairpersons across the 21 LGAs of Adamawa State in 2024, marking a significant stride toward gender inclusion in local governance.
