The husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, Peter Nwachukwu, has been found guilty of culpable homicide resulting in the death of the artist on April 8, 2022.
Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting at Wuse Zone 2, delivered the verdict, sentencing Nwachukwu to death by hanging. The trial was brought before the court by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF).
Nwachukwu had been arraigned on a 23-count charge, including culpable homicide punishable by death, criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, and spousal battery, among others.
The court found that Nwachukwu's actions directly led to the untimely death of his wife, a well-known gospel singer.
The sentencing has drawn widespread attention and serves as a significant moment in the fight against domestic violence. Further details on the case and the ruling will follow shortly.
