President Bola Tinubu has appointed key officials for the newly established Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
According to a statement by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the appointed officials for the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, include:
- Vice-Chancellor: Prof. Fatiu Arogundade
- Registrar: Dr. Obayomi Olukayode Gregory
- Bursar: Mrs. Adedokun Omolola Olufunso
- Librarian: Dr. Idiat Odunola Agboola
Prof. Arogundade, a seasoned academic and Professor of Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, previously served as the Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Ijanikin. He has over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, with notable contributions to medical research and academic reforms.
Dr. Gregory, the new Registrar, was formerly Deputy Registrar at the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, while Mrs. Olufunso, the new Bursar, is a Chartered Accountant and former Deputy Bursar at OAU, Ile-Ife. Dr. Agboola, the new Librarian, has been an Associate Professor of Library Science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Similarly, President Tinubu appointed Prof. Sa’adu Umar as Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
Other appointments for the institution include:
- Registrar: Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed
- Bursar: Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Alkali
- Librarian: Mrs. Maimuna Ahmed
Prof. Umar, a Professor of Agricultural Extension, previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.
President Tinubu urged the appointees to provide visionary leadership, ensuring that the institutions lay a solid foundation for academic excellence and the production of world-class professionals.
The Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, was established by an Act of the National Assembly and offers specialized training in technology, applied science, arts, social sciences, humanities, and management. The tenure of the college’s principal officers is five years with no extension, as stipulated in the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023.
