BREAKING: Nigerian Governor Hands Over Power To Deputy!

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has officially handed over power to his deputy, Dr. Peter Odey, as he embarks on a three-week annual leave from March 11 to April 8, 2025.

The governor communicated his decision to the Cross River State House of Assembly through a letter dated March 10, 2025, addressed to the Speaker, Elvert Ayambem. In the letter, he stated that he would be unavailable to perform official duties during his leave period and, therefore, assigned his deputy to act on his behalf.

During a plenary session, the State House of Assembly reviewed the letter and granted approval for the governor’s leave. This marks the first time Governor Otu is taking official leave since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

With this development, Dr. Peter Odey will oversee the administration of Cross River State, making necessary decisions and handling government affairs until Governor Otu resumes office on April 8, 2025.
