In a stunning announcement, former U.S. President Donald Trump declared on Friday that he will be revoking the security clearance of his predecessor, Joe Biden, effectively barring him from receiving daily intelligence briefings.
Trump made the declaration in a post on Truth Social, explaining that Biden no longer requires access to classified information. “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings,” Trump wrote.
The move comes as a response to Biden’s actions in 2021 when he had instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to cease providing classified national security information to Trump, who was then the 45th president. Trump referenced the Hur Report, which, according to him, revealed Biden's "poor memory" and inability to be trusted with sensitive matters even during his “prime.”
Trump emphasized his commitment to protecting national security, concluding with a bold statement: “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
The controversial decision has sparked widespread discussion and reactions across political circles.
