The gunmen who abducted retired General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have demanded a N250 million ransom for his release.
A source close to the family, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed to Weekend Trust that the family had been contacted and informed of the ransom amount.
Tsiga, along with nine other residents, was abducted around midnight on Wednesday. Over 100 gunmen surrounded the General’s residence and forcefully took him away.
The member representing Bakori/Danja federal constituency in Katsina State, Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, spoke to the press, saying the attackers surrounded the house, began breaking doors, which led the general to come out and ask them what they were looking for.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the spokesperson for the 17 Brigade in Katsina nor the police spokesman had responded to messages regarding the incident.
