The Federal Government of Nigeria has repatriated 828 foreign nationals who were found to be in the country illegally in 2024. This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
While the specific offenses committed by the deportees were not mentioned, Dr. Tunji-Ojo confirmed that the deportations were carried out by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
This move is part of the government's ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and ensure national security. The repatriated individuals have been returned to their respective countries.
The minister urged the public to adhere to immigration laws and warned against illegal residency in Nigeria.
