Eye-for-An-Eye: Man Beheaded His Wife, Mob Set Him Ablaze in Delta

A man was burned to death by an angry mob after he allegedly beheaded his wife in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. The tragic event occurred earlier this week, with confirmation from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe.

Edafe's statement revealed that the man, whose identity remains unknown, took his wife into a remote bush on Monday, where he killed and decapitated her. He then carried her severed head back to his home.

As the news of the horrific crime spread, community members reacted with outrage. They quickly descended on the man’s house, where they found the woman's head. In a furious response, the mob dragged the man out and set him ablaze, ending his life in a brutal act of vengeance.

The police spokesperson also noted that this is the third case of ritual killing in Delta State within the past two months, which has raised concerns about the disturbing rise in such incidents. Similar cases have also been reported in other parts of the country, including Abuja, with individuals allegedly motivated by the desire for quick wealth through ritualistic killings.

In an unrelated case, a 20-year-old man named Precious was arrested earlier this month for his involvement in the killing of a 10-year-old girl in the Ethiope East area.

Authorities are left grappling with how to address the increasing prevalence of ritual killings, with many questioning what can be done
