Enugu Students Shine as Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology Holds 774 YONSPA Examination.

The spirit of academic excellence was on full display yesterday as the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology successfully conducted its annual 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award (YONSPA) Examination in Enugu State. The highly competitive exam featured students from the 6 Educational Zones, showcasing their brilliance in science and technology.  

The event, which aimed to identify and nurture the next generation of scientific minds, saw participants receive school bags and transportation fares as part of the ministry’s commitment to encouraging young scholars. However, the top three students were rewarded with special prizes that added excitement to the occasion.  

Emerging as the best student in the competition, Master Chinawa Shekina the first-place winner was awarded a brand-new HP laptop, a prestigious gift symbolizing academic excellence. As a further honor, this outstanding student will represent Enugu State at the Federal level in Abuja, where they will compete against other bright minds from across the country.  

The second-place winner Master Onuora Louis Uzochukwu received a tablet, while the third-place student Miss Mukaosolu Michelle Oneubuya was also awarded a tablet, all under the Governor’s Award, which was handed over by the Honorable Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Engr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh. The gesture highlights the state government's dedication to promoting STEM education and empowering students with technological tools for learning.  

Speaking at the event, the Engr. Ezeh commended all the participants for their dedication and brilliance, urging them to continue striving for excellence. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting young innovators and ensuring that Enugu remains at the forefront of scientific development in Nigeria.  

With the state’s brightest mind set to compete at the national stage, the future of science and technology in Enugu looks more promising than ever.
