Two individuals tragically lost their lives in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State due to a dispute over revenue control at the Ughelli Main Market. The incident, which occurred between two communities, Iwhreko and Ekiugbo, who share the market area, involved a fatal confrontation that led to gunfire and bloodshed.

One of the victims, known as Onome and popularly referred to as Oyibo, was reportedly collecting revenue from petty traders at the market when he was approached by unidentified individuals. However, the situation escalated when gunshots suddenly rang out, causing panic and chaos. Marketgoers fled for safety, only to return later and find Oyibo’s lifeless body near the former Eco Bank building, close to Adagharagba Junction.

Another individual, identified as Nathaniel, also suffered gunshot injuries. He was rushed from the market by a group of bystanders who tried to assist him. Sadly, Nathaniel succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to Ughelli Central Hospital.
