Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced an indefinite suspension of all state revenue collections, particularly targeting areas such as motor parks. This decision, which takes immediate effect, aims to address growing concerns over the revenue collection process within the state.
In a decisive directive, Governor Okpebholo has ordered the State Commissioner of Police to apprehend any individuals who defy this mandate by attempting to collect revenues on behalf of the state government. This strict enforcement measure underscores the governor's commitment to restoring order and accountability in revenue collection practices across Edo State.
The announcement was made through a statement by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, in which Governor Okpebholo expressed his intent to thoroughly review the existing revenue collection processes. He assured the public that further guidelines would be provided following a comprehensive assessment.
"The collection of revenues in the State has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the State Government will be arrested," the statement read, emphasizing the governor's zero-tolerance stance on unauthorized collections.
Governor Okpebholo urged the public to comply with this directive and reassured them that the temporary halt on revenue collection will soon lead to a more streamlined and transparent process.
