Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and the first daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has been appointed as the Ambassador of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE). The appointment was announced by Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, the Executive Secretary of the commission, during a courtesy visit to her palace in Lagos.
The commission’s spokesperson, Nura Muhammad, highlighted that Tinubu-Ojo’s longstanding dedication to supporting underprivileged communities, particularly Almajiri children and those outside the formal education system, significantly influenced her selection for this prominent role. Her commitment to improving the conditions of these vulnerable populations aligns with the commission's objectives.
In his remarks, Dr. Idris praised Tinubu-Ojo for her extensive work in promoting trade, commerce, and initiatives aimed at improving market women’s access to essential resources. Her new role as Ambassador is expected to capitalize on her influential standing in Nigeria’s commercial sector to support educational advancements for some of the country’s most disadvantaged communities.
Tinubu-Ojo expressed her gratitude for the appointment, pledging to leverage her role to alleviate the challenges faced by Almajiri and out-of-school children. She highlighted her father’s dedication to education as a lasting legacy, pointing out how it has positively impacted her own life and that of her family. Additionally, she commended the Executive Secretary for his dedication to the nation and offered her prayers for his success in the mission ahead.
Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to unify efforts in commerce and education, with the aim of transforming the lives of Nigeria's underserved youth populations.
