The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, is set to go live on TVC Breakfast Saturday on Saturday, September 5, 2026, for a special conversation on the progress, impact and future of Nigeria’s student loan programme.
Sawyerr will feature on the programme at 7:35 a.m., with the discussion expected to spotlight major developments in NELFUND, including its growing student support and the reported ₦50 billion funding from EFCC recoveries.
Since the launch of the NELFUND Student Loan Portal in May 2024, the Fund has recorded significant milestones. Its latest dashboard shows that 1,659,853 applications have been processed, while ₦355.87 billion has been disbursed through institutional fee payments and upkeep allowances.
The intervention has continued to provide financial relief to students across hundreds of tertiary institutions, helping to reduce the burden associated with higher education and supporting students to remain in school.
The live appearance will provide an opportunity for Nigerians to hear directly from the NELFUND boss on the achievements recorded so far, the Fund’s ongoing initiatives and its vision for the future of student financing in the country.
