BREAKING!! Enugu State Powers Into Africa’s Digital Future, Unveils Talent City

Enugu State has taken another major step towards establishing itself as a leading digital innovation hub in Africa, with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy & MSMEs and Managing Director/CEO of the Enugu SME Center, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, playing a key role in coordinating the state’s latest digital transformation initiative.

The milestone was achieved under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), led by its Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Maida, as Enugu State formally took over the NCC Digital Industrial Park and Digital Bridge Institute (Learning Centre) under long-term operational lease agreements.

The development marks a significant expansion of the state government’s ongoing efforts to build a knowledge-driven economy capable of attracting global investment, developing high-value talent and creating sustainable opportunities for young people.

Under the new arrangement, the strategic national assets are set to be transformed into Enugu Talent City, a Knowledge-Based Outsourcing (KPO) Centre powered by the Nigerian Data Exchange (NGDX) Hub, managed by Terragon, alongside the Enugu AI Institute.

The emerging ecosystem is expected to serve as a major platform for artificial intelligence, digital innovation, talent development, entrepreneurship and high-value job creation, positioning Enugu to compete more aggressively in the rapidly expanding global digital economy.

The initiative, coordinated by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency, further demonstrates the Mbah administration’s commitment to equipping young people with relevant digital skills while creating an enabling environment for technology-driven businesses, startups and entrepreneurs to thrive.

Speaking on the significance of the development, Hon. Chilo-Offiah noted that the transformation of the facilities represents more than an infrastructure project, describing it as a strategic investment in the future of Enugu’s young population and the state’s economic competitiveness.

The initiative aligns with the administration’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to move Enugu beyond traditional economic models and establish the state as a destination for technology, innovation, outsourcing, entrepreneurship and knowledge-based investment.

With the establishment of Enugu Talent City, the state is positioning itself to tap into the enormous global market for digital services while providing young people with access to training, technology, innovation and opportunities to participate in the digital economy.

The development also reinforces Enugu’s growing reputation as a state aggressively embracing technology as a tool for economic transformation, job creation and inclusive development.

As the facilities transition into their new operational phase, expectations are high that Enugu Talent City will become a major engine for digital talent development and a gateway through which Enugu’s young professionals and technology entrepreneurs can connect with opportunities in Nigeria and the global economy.

For the Mbah administration, the message is clear: the future of economic development is increasingly digital, and Enugu intends to be at the forefront.

The future is digital. The future is Enugu. Tomorrow is Here.
