A major international honour has come the way of renowned humanitarian and women empowerment advocate, Amb. Onyinye Joy Mamah, as the United States-headquartered Global Abrahamic Movement (GAM) has officially nominated her to serve as President of the Enugu State Chapter of The Abrahamic Movement, Nigeria Chapter.
The appointment follows what the organisation described as a careful assessment of Amb. Mamah's leadership record, humanitarian contributions and unwavering commitment to social development, making her one of the latest African leaders entrusted with driving the Movement's global agenda of peace, reconciliation and interfaith cooperation.
The nomination was communicated in an official letter signed by the Executive National Secretary of The Abrahamic Movement – Nigeria Chapter, Prof. Adamu Shaffa, who said the Enugu-born development advocate exemplifies the ideals upon which the international organisation was founded.
According to the letter, her years of dedication to humanitarian service, women empowerment, mentorship and grassroots community development made her a natural choice to lead the Movement in Enugu State.
The organisation further expressed confidence that her appointment would strengthen its peacebuilding initiatives and expand its impact across the state.
The development received an additional boost when the International President of the Global Abrahamic Movement, Mr. Tom Wegner, publicly announced and celebrated Amb. Mamah's appointment, describing it as another important milestone in the Movement's worldwide expansion.
In his congratulatory message, Wegner praised her exceptional record in humanitarian service, saying her leadership philosophy mirrors the Movement's core principles of healing historical wounds, building bridges and establishing sustainable peace.
He also applauded the Nigerian leadership of the organisation for identifying a leader whose passion for humanity and community transformation aligns with the Movement's global vision.
For many development experts and civil society stakeholders, the appointment comes as another confirmation of Amb. Mamah's rising international profile.
As Executive Director of the Heroine Women Foundation and President of the Women Support Women for Human Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative (WOSUWO), she has become one of the South-East's most respected voices on women's empowerment, youth mentorship, humanitarian intervention and inclusive development.
Through numerous community-based initiatives, she has empowered women economically, mentored young people, supported vulnerable households and championed programmes designed to improve the lives of disadvantaged populations.
The organisation she now represents also occupies an influential position in global peacebuilding.
Operating through the African Abrahamic Movement (AAM), the Global Abrahamic Movement maintains its international headquarters in the United States, a diplomatic secretariat in Israel, and its continental regional office in Abuja, Nigeria. The Movement collaborates with governments, diplomatic institutions and international partners to promote dialogue, reconciliation, good governance, sustainable development and peaceful coexistence among diverse religious and ethnic communities.
Amb. Mamah's latest international recognition adds to an already impressive list of accomplishments.
She recently emerged unopposed as Chairperson of Advocacy of the Civil Society–Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), further cementing her reputation as a respected policy advocate.
She is equally an Advisory Member of the G100 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Wing State Advisory Council for Enugu State, where she joins distinguished women leaders advancing the global Sustainable Development Goals through advocacy, partnership and community action.
Beyond humanitarian work, Amb. Mamah has remained an influential campaigner for greater female participation in governance. Through the Loudest Voices for Peter Mbah platform, she mobilised women across Enugu State in support of increased representation of women in leadership while consistently promoting affirmative action and inclusive governance.
Observers believe her emergence as the pioneer President of The Abrahamic Movement in Enugu State represents far more than a personal achievement. They see it as an opportunity to deepen interfaith dialogue, strengthen peaceful coexistence and position Enugu as an active contributor to international peacebuilding efforts.
With the confidence of a globally respected organisation now behind her, Amb. Onyinye Joy Mamah is expected to lead initiatives that will foster reconciliation, expand humanitarian partnerships and promote sustainable peace, further projecting Enugu State on the international stage through purposeful leadership and community-centred development.
