RE; ISI- UZO PATRIOTS ACCUSE EHA-AMUFU OF MONOPOLIZING POLITICAL POSITIONS

BY FRANCIS EDE

Two quick media outings by my friends Anayo Agbo and Dennis Agbo all from Ikem on the recent nomination of Chief Brendan Ani from Eha-Amufu Ward 1 in Eha-Amufu West Development Center as the APC Chairmanship Candidate in forth coming local government council election in the state calls for sober reflection on all indigens of Isi -Uzo LGA and the larger reading public on the activities of the duo of Anayo Agbo and Dennis Agbo and all who think and act like them in ways and manners that tend to divide the unity of purpose and overiding sense of oneness that exists amongst the five communities of Isi -Uzo divided as it were into 4 Development Centers for ease of administrative purposes.

May I, from the onset thank His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his pragmatism and sense of fairness in allowing Eha-Amufu West Development Center and particularly Eha-Amufu Ward 1 to produce the APC Chairmanship Candidate after a stretch of close to 30 years of watching Enugu State and Isi -Uzo LGA political activities from the sidelines. The same hearty appreciation to the leadership and members of APC in Enugu State and Isi -Uzo LGA for their votes and support for Brendan Ani during the Championship Primaries.

We pledge our unalloyed support for the government of Governor Peter Mbah, his policies, programmes and projects that have continued to impact very positively on the people of Enugu State since his assumption of office.

Facts Versus Fiction

It puzzles every rational mind how the duo of Anayo Agbo and Dennis Agbo two persons of Ikem extraction with media clouth are trying to run down Eha-Amufu, it leaders and people with great glee, without compuction, or without slightest  restraint and majorly anchoring their arguments and debates by joggling facts and figures relating to collective datas of the various communities in Isi -Uzo LGA with the ease of talented football dribllers just to score cheap political points angst Eha-Amufu as if Eha-Amufu is in conflict with her other brother communities in Isi -Uzo LGA.

In the purported press conference entitled ISI -UZO ON THE PRECIPICE; The Need To Remedy Injustice And A True Guide For Governor Peter Mbah On The Eha-Amufu Claim said to be from Isi -Uzo Patriots and dated, Thursday, June 11, 2026, the group claimed 'that ceding another Local Government Chairmanship position to Eha-Amufu has brought another round of anger, agitation and bad blood among brethren of Isi -Uzo Local Government Area', and they belabored themselves trying to prove that Eha - Amufu is indeed smaller than other parts of Isi -Uzo LGA put together.

And they premised their arguments on the total number of registered voters in all the communities of Isi -Uzo LGA, and the voter turnout in 2023 general elections with a chart that shows that Eha-Amufu has the lowest voter turnout in the said elections.

They also mentioned 2006 National Population Census without saying exactly what the figures recorded by the various communities are in that census but quickly moved to making projections about the other communities against Eha-Amufu not based again on census recorded numbers but curiously on the voter registration and voters turnout during the 2023 general elections.

They also mentioned the agreement between the five communities of Isi -Uzo LGA to rotate election positions amongst themselves without the slightest reference to what the agreement said.

It is either that Dennis Agbo or Anayo Agbo or all of those who believe in the wanton condemnation angst Eha-Amufu have not seen the document they referenced or like every bit of their claims, they're engaging in falsehoods, half truths and in most cases out fabrication and deliberately so with the sole intent to stir up gang up against Eha-Amufu people and or prepare ground for NDC in Isi -Uzo LGA to which some of them are already members particularly in Ikem.

It makes one want to cry that these people are dancing upon the graves of hundreds of Eha-Amufu people killed during the years of 2020, 2021 and 2022 down up to few months before the 2023 election and they are  using its statistics bodily against Eha-Amufu. The implications of this scenario is while Fulani herdsmen were killing, maiming and ransacking Eha-Amufu town, villages and our hinterlands  which were the bulk of our votes comes from, what was uppermost in the minds of some of these our brothers and sisters were how to surpass our voter registration?

But the basic question remains what was total registration of voters and voters turnout during other elections before 2023 election across the other towns versus Eha-Amufu?

These facts I am going to outline now speaks for itself and to who may read or have read the jundiced reports political dynamics of Isi -Uzo LGA and the situation of Eha-Amufu in it.

1. On 12th September, 2007, the Zoning agreement between Igbo-Ano and Eha-Amufu was made at Ikem the Local Government Headquarters of Isi -Uzo LGA and communique was issued which was signed by 89 persons across all the 11 Wards of Isi -Uzo LGA and the communities thereto from.

The caption of that meeting was 'Meeting Of PDP Isi -Uzo Ward Chairmen/ Secretaries, Stakeholders and Members of The Caretaker Committee.

2. The preface says, Isi -Uzo Local Government Area'; Political Strength And Agreement.

× It says that the Local Government is made up of 5 towns, namely, Eha-Amufu, Ikem, Mbu, Neke and Umualor. In 2007, these five towns came together and made the following Resolutions and Agreement;

(A)  That the Local Government was divided into two political zones, namely, Eha-Amufu Zone and Igbo Ano Zone ( comprising Ikem, Neke, Mbu and Umualor).

(B) That each Zone should provide the Chairman irrespective of any other positions held.

Listed strength of the various communities as itemized at that time are as follows; 1. Population % Eha-Amufu 60%, Igboano 40% REFERENCE; Census 2006.

2. Land mass: Eha-Amufu 55%,  Igboano 45%.  REFERENCE, Map of Enugu State.

3. Voter registration = 50,450, Eha-Amufu 26,181 = 52%,  Igboano 24,269 = 48% , REFERENCE, 2011 Voters Register.

4. School Enrollment; Eha-Amufu 57%, Igboano 43%, REFERENCE, Ministry of Education.

5. Internal generated Revenue: 2 Motor Parks, Eke Eha-Amufu, Nkwo Aguamede, College of Education, Eha-Amufu.

I challenge all who have this document in their possession and all those who may have read it to dispute what I have published here. Or bring forth what he or she may have as authentic documents versus mine?

Note that it was Dr. Sam Ugwu as he then was, as Chairman of Isi -Uzo LGA during Barr Sullivan Chime as Governor that flouted this very rotation. After his 4 year tenure as Council Chairman he deliberately handed over to Chief Augustine Nnamani from Neke basing their arguments on the fact that Amanyi Development Center is different from Isi -Uzo Central Development Center.

And while Dr. Sam Ugwu was Chairman of Isi -Uzo LGA,  Amb. Kingsley Ebenyi from the same village, Ikem Ward 2 and the same Isi -Uzo Central Development Center became a member of House Representatives through the instrumentality of his office. Yet this concentration of power in Ikem Ward 2 never in any way offended the sensibilities of today's crusading men of fairness and equity on power rotation in Isi -Uzo LGA.

Suffice it to say that the people of Eha-Amufu went whole heartedly, with the arrangement then and voted as instructed by the then party and government in power.

Finally, let me use this opportunity to thank all the multitude of Isi -Uzo people who rejoiced and danced joyful when my name trended as the incoming Chairman of Isi -Uzo LGA, though it came to nought, we should not despair.

Let unity of purpose reign among us, and let peace and oneness prevail amongst us the people of Isi -Uzo LGA. Let's continue to support the administration of Governor Peter Mbah and let us vote massively for APC candidates in all the up coming elections as people united in brotherly love and amity.
