The Awkunanaw Clan of Enugu State is set to host a landmark mega rally in honour of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in recognition of what has been widely described as his visionary and people-centered approach to governance.
This was disclosed by members of the Mega Rally Strategic Committee—Rt. Hon. USA Igwesi, Chief Sir Nwabueze Nnamani, Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, Dcn. Okey Ogbodo, and Rt. Hon. Caleb Ani—while speaking with journalists after a high-level meeting in Enugu.
According to them, Governor Mbah has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to balanced development, ensuring that Awkunanaw benefits significantly from the state’s ongoing transformation agenda.
They noted that the sheer number and scale of projects executed within the clan have left many residents impressed, describing the Governor’s achievements as both bold and forward-thinking.
The committee stated that the rally aims to publicly acknowledge and celebrate a leadership style that prioritizes both physical infrastructure and human capital development.
They pointed to major interventions such as the construction of 18 Smart Green Schools, 18 Type II Primary Healthcare Centres, a modern transport terminal, and the proposed establishment of 18 farm estates as evidence of the administration’s holistic development strategy.
In addition, they emphasized the impact of improved road networks and the formal designation of Awkunanaw as an urban area through Executive Order No. 1, 2025, which has enhanced accessibility and economic activities within the region.
Rt. Hon. USA Igwesi, who chairs the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, called on all sons and daughters of Awkunanaw, as well as residents of Enugu State, to attend the rally in large numbers as a show of solidarity and appreciation.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Awkunanaw Civic Center, Akpasha, Akegbe Ugwu, Nkanu West Local Government Area, starting at 10:00 am.
Awkunanaw Clan is made up of Akegbe Ugwu, Obuoffia, Amechi, Amodu, Umueze, Akwuke, Ugwuaji, and Obeagu communities, located within Nkanu West and Enugu South Local Government Areas.
