BREAKING: Tinubu’s Appointee, Ex-APC Guber Candidate Dumps APC, Joins ADC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna, has resigned as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, citing compliance with a directive issued by Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring political appointees to step down ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gawuna’s resignation, conveyed in a letter dated March 27, 2026, takes immediate effect. The former APC governorship candidate in Kano State is also set to complete his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as political realignments intensify.

In the letter, Gawuna stated that his decision was in strict adherence to the President’s directive and in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act. He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as impactful and fulfilling.

He further noted that he is leaving his political future in the hands of Allah, seeking divine guidance on his next steps.

Gawuna also assured of a seamless transition process, pledging to hand over responsibilities in accordance with established procedures.

His resignation adds to the growing number of political appointees stepping down in compliance with the directive, as alliances and party movements ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
