The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly re-elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, less than 24 hours after he secured another term in office.
Yesiro reportedly passed away shortly after he was returned to the position during the party’s state congress held at Onikan Stadium in Lagos. He was among the officials expected to be formally inaugurated alongside other newly elected members of the Lagos APC State Executive Council at the party’s state secretariat.
Reacting to the development, the Lagos chapter of the APC described the incident as shocking and painful to the party’s leadership and members. In a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the party expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of the party chieftain.
Oladejo noted that Yesiro’s death came at a time when his passion, commitment and dedication to progressive politics were greatly needed within the party structure.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the APC received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Karamo Yesiro,” Oladejo stated.
He added that although the late party official’s new tenure ended unexpectedly, he had already made a strong impression among party members and colleagues through his dedication and readiness to contribute to party activities.
According to the spokesman, Yesiro was widely known for his enthusiasm, humility and willingness to serve the party and advance its progressive ideals in Lagos State.
The party further extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as his political associates, supporters and friends, praying for the strength to bear the loss.
