A fire outbreak was reported on Monday morning at a section of the complex housing the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja.
Eyewitnesses said the fire was first noticed around 8:20 a.m., when thick smoke began rising from part of the structure, drawing the attention of workers and passersby within the premises.
The incident reportedly occurred at Section C of the building within the Office of the Head of Service complex. Staff members present at the time were seen evacuating the affected area while emergency responders were contacted to handle the situation.
Officials from the media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service confirmed the development, noting that the fire was restricted to Section C of the facility. According to the office, emergency personnel were already on ground working to bring the situation under control.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, but an investigation is expected to commence once the flames are fully contained and the area is declared safe.
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is a key administrative institution responsible for coordinating Nigeria’s federal civil service and overseeing policy implementation across ministries, departments, and agencies.
The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols and operational continuity within government facilities, although officials indicated that the fire was limited to a specific section of the building.
Emergency teams continue efforts to fully contain the situation while authorities prepare to launch a formal investigation to determine the cause of the outbreak and prevent future occurrences.
