President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun.
The appointment follows the resignation of Egbetokun, who stepped down after a directive from the President. Disu, a senior officer in the Nigeria Police Force, assumes leadership of the force at a critical period in the country’s security landscape.
Prior to his elevation, Disu served as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos. Over the years, he has held several strategic operational positions across various police commands nationwide.
The Presidency is expected to provide further details regarding the transition process, while preparations are underway for a formal handover ceremony at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
