BREAKING!! EEDC Announces Emergency Load Management Over Transmission Line Fault



The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has announced the implementation of emergency load management across parts of its network following a fault on the Mando–Shiroro Transmission line.

In a public notice issued on February 12, 2026, the company disclosed that the development has necessitated immediate adjustments to power allocation as directed by the National Control Centre (NCC), Oshogbo.

According to EEDC, the NCC has advised the company to maintain only 44 megawatts (MW) on the Onitsha/New Haven 330kV line, affecting Awada, Agu-Awka, Nibo, New Haven, Nkalagu and Abakaliki Transmission Stations. Additionally, supply has been limited to 10MW and 11MW on the Ugwuaji and Apir Transmission Stations respectively.

The company stated that customers served by its subsidiary companies, MainPower, FirstPower and Eastland. in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States will be impacted by the emergency measure.

EEDC apologised for the inconvenience the situation may cause and appealed for customers’ understanding, noting that relevant stakeholders are working to clear the fault and restore normal electricity supply.
