BREAKING: ADC Defeats APC As First Polling Unit Result Emerges In FCT Council Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded victory in the first announced polling unit result of the ongoing Area Council election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The result was declared at Polling Unit 076, located at Sani Abacha Estate in Wuse Zone 4 under the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

According to the official count, out of 10 votes cast at the unit, ADC secured seven votes, APC received two votes, while one ballot was rejected.

The ADC candidate for AMAC Chairman, Dr. Moses Paul, who voted at the same polling unit, expressed concerns over the conduct of the election in other parts of the council. He alleged that some of his party agents were intimidated and threatened in areas including Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa ward such as Dogongada and Shereti.

Paul also blamed the movement restriction imposed by FCT authorities for the low voter turnout recorded across several polling units. He described the turnout as significantly below expectations, noting that he had never witnessed such a situation in the area despite having lived in AMAC for about four decades.

While acknowledging that officials at his polling unit conducted the process properly and followed laid-down procedures, he alleged that reports from other locations indicated cases of voter intimidation and vote buying, which he described as criminal acts.

Despite the concerns raised, the ADC candidate expressed confidence in emerging victorious and urged residents to demand accountable leadership.
