A CALL TO CONSCIENCE: NDI NKANU, ARISE AND DEFEND YOUR OWN

Awakening the Spirit of Nkanu: A Call to Unity and Self-Defense

By Gabriel Nnamani (GOC)

History is a stubborn teacher. Those who refuse to learn from it are condemned to repeat their losses again and again. Today, Ndi Nkanu must pause, reflect, and ask ourselves hard but necessary questions.

Why is it that each time an Nkanu man becomes Governor of Enugu State, a strange alliance of critics, paid analysts, fake activists, and professional wailers suddenly emerges? Why do some people always sharpen their weapons of destruction against any Governor from Nkanu land? What exactly have Ndi Nkanu done to deserve this consistent hostility?

Since the return of democracy in 1999, the pattern has been clear.

When Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, an Nkanu man, won the governorship election, he came with vision, courage, and capacity. He invested massively in human development, empowerment, infrastructure, and political grooming. Many of the finest politicians and leaders Enugu has produced today rose from his era. He laid a solid foundation for modern Enugu. Yes, he made mistakes, because he is human, but the gang-up against him was vicious and unprecedented, largely because he was an Nkanu man.

Suddenly, when Sullivan Chime from Enugu West became Governor, the noise stopped. The coordinated attacks disappeared. Criticism reduced. After his eight years, praise singers took over the airwaves.

Then came Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi from Nsukka. Despite the visible decay of Enugu State under his leadership, the praises continued. “NSK love” was everywhere. No serious outrage. No united criticism. Meanwhile, over 80 percent of Ndi Nkanu lost their jobs, only to be replaced largely by people from Nsukka. Yet, silence reigned.

Now, history is repeating itself.

The moment Peter Ndubuisi Mba, another Nkanu man, became Governor, the enemies rose again. Data boys, paid wailers, agents of darkness, and sponsored critics suddenly formed a united front. Why? Because once again, power returned to Nkanu land.

But this time, the truth is too loud to be silenced.

In less than two and a half years, Governor Peter Mba has achieved what previous administrations combined could not achieve in sixteen years. His achievements are visible, measurable, and verifiable, in education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, urban renewal, investment, and governance reforms. Anyone in doubt should simply search the internet or walk the streets of Enugu.

This is not propaganda. This is reality.

Peter Mba did not come to power to steal or survive. As a private citizen, he is already worth billions. He built his businesses from scratch and surpassed many who once looked like gods in their sectors. He came to government with a clear mission: to rebuild Enugu and make it work.

Yet, the greatest danger to Ndi Nkanu today is not external enemies, it is the enemy within. Those among us who join outsiders to pull down our own son. Those who clap when Nkanu is marginalized but shout when Nkanu rises.

Have we forgotten our past losses?

We have lost almost 50 percent of our ancestral lands in Enugu urban areas. Lands that were once farms where our people would have been earning a living are now occupied by others yet the same people still see nothing good in any Governor from Nkanu land.

How long shall this continue?

Ndi Nkanu, this is not the time for division. This is the time to wake up, unite, and support our own. This is not about blind loyalty; it is about fairness, justice, and self-preservation. No group progresses by destroying its best hands.

Peter Ndubuisi Mba is a God-sent opportunity for Enugu State. He is intentional, disciplined, focused, and fearless. With him, Enugu is already becoming a reference point, and very soon, it will be the envy of other states.

Let us not repeat the mistakes of the past. Let us not allow history to mock us again.

Ndi Nkanu, arise.

Stand firm.

Defend truth.

Support progress.

Protect your own.

Enugu is rising and Tomorrow is truly Here.
