HAPPENING NOW!! Wike Backed Rivers Assembly Begins Another Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Fubara

The political tension in Rivers State escalated on Thursday as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly formally commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Dr. Ngozi Oduh.

The process was initiated during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, where the Majority Leader, Major Jack, formally read a notice of allegations and claims of gross misconduct leveled against the governor.

According to the lawmakers, the notice—signed by 26 members of the House—outlined alleged violations which they claimed were contrary to provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Speaker Amaewhule disclosed that the notice of impeachment would be officially served on Governor Fubara within seven days, in line with constitutional requirements.

In a similar development, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Assembly, Linda Stewart, read out the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor, Dr. Ngozi Oduh, marking the formal commencement of impeachment proceedings against her as well.

The move further deepens the ongoing political crisis in the state, as the impeachment process now shifts to the next constitutional stage, where responses from the affected executives are expected.
