Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has announced plans to formally rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday, following his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) last Friday.
Yusuf said his decision to return to the APC was informed by governance realities, the need for national cohesion, and the desire to accelerate development in Kano State.
The governor, who originally joined the APC in 2014, had earlier won the party’s primary election for the Kano Central Senatorial seat before stepping aside for Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. His return is expected to strengthen cooperation between the Kano State Government and the Federal Government, particularly in the execution of developmental projects across the state.
According to party sources, Yusuf’s formal re-registration into the APC will be accompanied by 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and all 44 local government chairmen in the state.
The governor is also expected to officially launch the APC electronic registration exercise in Kano on the same day.
APC officials confirmed that arrangements for Yusuf’s return were coordinated under the supervision of the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, to ensure a smooth and orderly registration process for the governor and his supporters.
