BREAKING: Bandits Burn Two Vehicles, Abduct Passengers Along Danjibga–Kalgo Road in Zamfara

Suspected bandits on Friday attacked commuters along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, setting two vehicles ablaze and abducting all passengers on board.

Sources disclosed that the attackers blocked the road before launching the assault, forcing the vehicles to a halt. After seizing the occupants, the assailants reportedly set the vehicles on fire and fled the area with the abducted passengers. As of Saturday, the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown.

The incident was confirmed by a security alert platform, Bakatsine, which noted that the attack underscores the persistent insecurity plaguing major highways across Zamfara State despite ongoing security operations.

The latest abduction comes days after a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion along the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road, which claimed at least eight lives and destroyed property. Following the incident, Nigerian security forces conducted an emergency operation to clear the affected route and declared it safe for public use.

The clearance exercise was carried out under the directive of the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, with specialised Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams deployed to search the highway amid concerns that additional explosives may have been planted.

The joint operation involved Police EOD units, Military EOD operatives, and the Joint Task Force under Operation Fansa-Yamma, with armed security personnel providing cover throughout the exercise.

Despite these measures, Friday’s attack has renewed concerns over the safety of travellers on key roads in the state, as residents and commuters continue to call for stronger and sustained security presence.
