MASSIVE SOLIDARITY: Hon John Ogbodo Reaffirms Nkanu West Loyalty, Support to Gov Mbah as APC Inaugurates LG, Ward Executives

The political landscape of Nkanu West Local Government Area was electrified on Wednesday as the Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee stormed Agbani for the inauguration of the newly constituted local government and ward executives of the party. The event, which marked the final phase of the committee’s statewide tour, turned into a powerful affirmation of confidence in Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and a renewed declaration of support from the people of Nkanu West.

Leading the delegation was the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, accompanied by the Committee Secretary, Rt. Hon. Barr. Eugene Odo, and other notable members including Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh. They were warmly received by a massive gathering of party faithful, community leaders, and government officials—an indication of the shifting political tides in Enugu State.

Hon. John Ogbodo, the Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Council and chief host of the occasion, delivered one of the most defining messages of the event. He praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s bold transformation agenda, describing him as a leader whose capacity to turn long-abandoned projects into reality has set him apart in the history of Enugu State governance. Ogbodo expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s empowerment of Nkanu West indigenes and for repositioning the local government as a central contributor to Enugu’s development drive.

The council chairman, visibly confident about the unfolding political realignment, asserted that Nkanu West is solidly behind Governor Mbah and will demonstrate its loyalty in the coming years. “In 2027, Nkanu West will reward Governor Mbah,” he declared. “When the campaign season arrives, we will show what loyalty, gratitude, and political commitment truly mean.”

Dr. Nwoye, in his remarks, revisited his now-famous decision to attend Governor Mbah’s 2023 campaign rally while dressed in full APC regalia, despite being a staunch member of the opposition at the time. He explained that his action was driven by a conviction that Governor Mbah represented a new generation of leadership capable of reshaping Enugu State. He credited the governor’s performance and the newfound political stability in the state as the ultimate vindication of that belief.

He described the APC as the new winning platform in Enugu State, noting that its rising strength was already evident in the quality of leaders aligning with the party. Dr. Nwoye commended Governor Mbah’s vision, courage, and strategic realignment with the centre—moves he said had opened unprecedented opportunities for development across the state.

Supporting this stance was the former PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, who argued that the political realignment from the PDP to the APC—from the national down to the local government level—was a reflection of practical governance realities and collective interest. He noted that leaders across Enugu State were merely responding to the direction of progress.

Other notable figures who took turns to speak in support of Governor Mbah and the strengthening of the APC included the Member representing Nkanu West in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mainstream Media, Dan Nwomeh; Chairman of the Enugu State Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board, Dr. Amaka Ngene; and respected party stalwart, Chief Mike Onu.

The event attracted top personalities such as the Deputy Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon. Friday Nnam; Council Secretary, Prince Barr. Onochie Igweshi; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategic Communication, Dr. Collins Ogbu; Special Assistant on Media, Darlington Arinze Nnamani; former council chairman, Arc. Nnaemeka Nnamani; and former lawmaker, Hon. Barr. Nwabueze Ugwu, among others.

The highlight of the momentous gathering was the formal inauguration of the newly constituted APC executives at both local government and ward levels. The ceremony, conducted by the State Secretary, Hon. Barr. Eugene Odo, saw Hon. Sunday Onovo receiving the party flag and iconic broom on behalf of the new Nkanu West leadership team, symbolizing a renewed mandate to spread the party’s message across all communities.

With Nkanu West uniting firmly behind Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and with influential stakeholders repositioning the local government as a political fortress, the APC continues to consolidate strength ahead of 2027—setting the stage for a new era of political alignment and development in Enugu State.
