Nollywood actress Stephanie Okereke has opened up about her remarkable journey from heartbreak to healing and ultimately discovering true love. In a heartfelt account, the award-winning star reflected on the painful end of her first marriage and how life gave her a second chance at happiness.
Stephanie revealed that she got married in 2004 to former Super Eagles player Chikelue Iloenyosi, but their union was dissolved in 2008 after she discovered that he was still legally married to another woman in the United States. The revelation left her devastated and in need of emotional healing.
“It was a heavy heart that needed healing,” she recounted, describing the difficult period that followed the dissolution of the marriage.
Despite the setback, fate had brighter plans. In 2009, Stephanie met Linus Idahosa at a social gathering. From the start, she said Linus was “clear, intentional and made me feel safe.” Their friendship blossomed through deep conversations, eventually growing into a love that Stephanie described as “genuine and peaceful.”
On her birthday, Linus proposed at Jay Jay Okocha’s Club 10, a moment Stephanie joyfully accepted. The couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Paris in April 2012, surrounded by family and close friends. Today, they are proud parents of two sons, Maxwell and Wesley.
Reflecting on her journey, Stephanie expressed profound gratitude for life’s second chances.
“I am grateful that pain did not stop me from believing in love again, because life always gives us another chance if we stay open and hopeful,” she said. “My story is a reminder that even after brokenness you can still rise, heal and find true happiness.”
