Two young men from Enugu State who were kidnapped days ago have regained their freedom after their families raised money for ransom.

The victims, identified as Tochukwu Agbo and Ugwu Eze Emmanuel, were abducted on Friday, 5th September 2025, at about 6 a.m. along the Ugwuogo-Nike to Isi-Uzo LGA road. Reports indicate that both men, who hail from Mbu, were on their way home for a burial ceremony in a silver Toyota Corolla when they were attacked and whisked away by kidnappers.

After days of tension and fear, the families of the victims were able to raise the required ransom, leading to their release late last night. The two men have since reunited safely with their loved ones.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the rising cases of kidnapping along the Ugwuogo-Nike axis and other parts of Enugu State, with calls for strengthened security measures to safeguard travelers and residents.
