The leadership of Enugu traders, under the umbrella of the Enugu State Amalgamated Traders Association (ESMATA), has officially endorsed the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for a second tenure in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit by the traders to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Liaison, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, who is responsible for overseeing market activities across the state and reporting directly to the Governor.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the association, Hon. Chief Chinweuba Igweshi, praised Governor Peter Mbah for his remarkable development strides, especially in the area of market reforms that have positively transformed the lives of traders. He commended the Governor for ending multiple and illegal taxation in markets across Enugu State, a reform that has brought relief and stability to thousands of traders.
Chief Igweshi further expressed gratitude to the Governor for appointing Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah to his current position, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his tireless efforts during the last election campaign. He noted that Dr. Mbah played a critical role in mobilizing traders and galvanizing grassroots support, which contributed immensely to the electoral victory of Governor Mbah in 2023.
The ESMATA leadership assured that traders in Enugu remain solidly behind the Governor and are fully committed to voting him back into office in 2027 to consolidate on his transformative agenda. Chief Igweshi called on the people of Enugu State to rally round the Governor, stressing that his performance in critical sectors such as infrastructure, economy, human capital development, and good governance is evident for all to see.
In his response, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Liaison, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, expressed deep appreciation to the traders for their unwavering support. He recalled their strong backing during the last election and welcomed their renewed pledge to stand with Governor Mbah in the upcoming 2027 polls.
Dr. Mbah reiterated the Governor’s unshakable commitment to the welfare of traders, noting that several tailored programs and packages designed to improve market systems and boost traders’ prosperity are already in place and would continue to be unveiled in phases. He urged the traders to maintain their faith in the administration, assuring them that Governor Mbah’s vision of building a prosperous and globally competitive Enugu State is on course.
The endorsement by ESMATA marks yet another strong show of confidence in the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose governance style and developmental initiatives continue to attract widespread commendation across the state.
