Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved the reinstatement of three public officials whose suspensions were recently lifted by the State House of Assembly.
The affected officials are Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area; Mrs. Grace Adagba, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); and Mr. Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission.
The trio were suspended following a House resolution that Governor Alia upheld on August 20, 2025. However, during plenary on August 25, the Assembly, under its new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, passed another resolution reversing the decision.
In compliance, the Governor has directed the immediate reinstatement of the officials, reaffirming his respect for the constitutional role of the legislature.
Governor Alia also urged the reinstated officers to rededicate themselves to duty, embrace accountability, and diligently serve the interests of the people. He further assured the people of Benue State of his administration’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and peaceful collaboration among all arms of government.
