TRAGEDY! Enugu LGA Loses Two Top Security Commanders, As Council Chairman Mourns



The Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State has been thrown into mourning following the unfortunate demise of two of its top security personnel — Onah Charles Ejike, Commander of Forest Guard in the LGA, and his deputy, Ameh Uchenna Paul. The duo were involved in a fatal road accident.

According to information gathered by Enugupress.ng, the two commanders, who were riding on a motorcycle, collided head-on with a truck that was parked along the roadside at Ngwor Road, Ibagwa-Aka, in Igboeze South LGA of Enugu State, leading to their untimely deaths.

Reacting to the tragedy, the Executive Chairman of Igboeze South LGA, Barr. Ugoferdinand, expressed deep sorrow and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as the entire local government. He described the late officers as heroes who served with “uncommon dedication, bravery, and unshakable commitment to the safety and well-being of the people.”

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, the council chairman wrote:

"It is with profound grief and an immensely heavy heart that I received the news of the sudden and tragic demise of two of our finest officers; the Commander of Igbo-Eze South Forest Guards, Onah Charles Ejike, and his Deputy, Ameh Uchenna Paul, who lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

"Their passing is an unspeakable loss to our local security architecture, our government and indeed every peace-loving citizen of Igbo-Eze South. These gallant men served with uncommon dedication, bravery and unshakable commitment to the safety and well-being of our people. In the face of daunting challenges, they stood firm, guarding our forests, protecting lives and restoring hope to many of our communities.

"Their deaths leave behind not only a void in our security framework but also a deep wound in our collective hearts. We remember them not just as officers, but as patriots whose lives exemplified courage, loyalty and honour.

"To their families, loved ones, colleagues and all who mourn this devastating loss, I extend my deepest condolences. May you find comfort in the legacy of service they leave behind, and strength in the outpouring of love and prayers from the entire Igbo-Eze South community.

"May the souls of Commander Onah Charles Ejike and Deputy Commander Ameh Uchenna Paul rest in perfect peace."

The tragic loss has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes from residents and stakeholders in the local government area.
