JUST IN: Enugu Police Nab Suspects Over Kidnapping, Murder Of 5-Year-Old Boy In Udi

Tragedy has struck in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State as the Police Command has arrested two young men over the gruesome murder of a five-year-old boy, identified as Master Obodoagu Wisdom.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects, one Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom (18), who is the child’s second cousin, and his accomplice, Sunday Michael (24), a security guard from Mayo-Belwa LGA of Adamawa State, were apprehended on August 11 and 12, 2025, by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad.

The little boy was first declared missing on July 26, 2025, sparking panic and distress in the community of Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, Udi LGA. Subsequent investigations revealed a chilling twist: the prime suspect had connived with his accomplice to demand a ransom of ₦1,000,000 from the victim’s father. In a bid to conceal his identity, he used the accomplice as the negotiator.

However, when the ransom went unmet, the suspect resorted to murdering the child and burying him in a bush close to their residence. Upon arrest, both suspects confessed to the heinous act, with the prime suspect leading operatives to the site of burial. The body was exhumed in the presence of medical experts, including a doctor, who confirmed the child’s death.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, while commiserating with the bereaved family, condemned the act as “callous, inhuman, and heart-wrenching.” He assured the public that justice will not be delayed, stressing that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Command further reiterated its resolve to clamp down on heinous crimes, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible information that can help secure lives and property across the state.
