The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor and serving senator representing Ogun East, Senator Gbenga Daniel, alongside his political associate, Hon. Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party activities.
According to the party’s official statement, Senator Daniel, who hails from Ward 4 in Sagamu Local Government Area, and Folarin, from Ward 6, were suspended after they allegedly failed to appear before disciplinary panels set up to investigate petitions against them.
Confirming the development on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the APC State Working Committee, led by Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi, ratified the suspensions, stressing that due process was followed in line with the party’s constitution.
The ruling party noted that the decision was taken to safeguard internal discipline and ensure loyalty to its ideals, adding that the suspension will remain in force pending further investigations.
The suspension of Senator Daniel, a two-term former governor and influential figure in Ogun politics, alongside Hon. Folarin, has generated widespread reactions within the political landscape of the state, with observers noting that it could reshape alignments ahead of future elections.
