"Ignore Fake News On Disruption of Ongoing NBA Conference" -Enugu South Council Boss To Residents

The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, has called on residents of Enugu State to disregard social media reports alleging disruption of the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Enugu.

Ani, in a statement issued on Monday, described the reports as “fake news” deliberately crafted by mischief makers to cause unnecessary tension and undermine the peace currently enjoyed in the state under the leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Mbah.

He noted that earlier in the day, false claims circulated online suggesting that protests had broken out over the detention of Mr. Bright Ngene, a Labour Party member. According to Ani, such misinformation is the handiwork of “fifth columnists whose stock-in-trade is to counter every good effort of government to promote the well-being of the people.”

The council boss emphasized that the NBA Annual General Conference 2025 was proceeding seamlessly without any disruptions, warning that no attempt to distract or discredit the event would succeed.

He further appealed to young people in the state to embrace constructive dialogue and make use of proper channels to express their concerns instead of allowing themselves to be manipulated into “unpatriotic actions” that could threaten peace and stability.

“The government is working tirelessly to improve the lives of our people. Residents must not allow themselves to be deceived by fake news aimed at undermining this progress,” Ani stated.

The statement urged residents to remain calm and focused on positive engagement, stressing that the administration remains committed to sustaining peace and promoting development across the state.
