The Enugu State Ministry of Transport, through its traffic management and enforcement agencies, the Enugu State Traffic Management Authority (ESTMA) and the Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO), today carried out a city-wide roadshow sensitisation campaign across the metropolis.
The exercise, which was flagged of by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport - Mrs. Iphie Ugonabo and led by the officers of the ministry was designed to inform residents and motorists about traffic expectations for the coming week, and beyond - particularly with the new transport infrastructure (TIP) and signages and the enforcement measures required to ensure safe, orderly movement within the city.
During the campaign, road users were addressed at key points around the metropolis, and informed about the traffic restrictions, compliance guidelines, and safe-driving procedures that will be in place. The sensitisation underscored the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that Enugu remains safe, orderly, and welcoming during the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference (NBA AGC) and beyond.
The Ministry reassures the public that these measures are being undertaken in the best interest of our citizens and our visitors. They are designed to enhance safety, protect infrastructure, and create ease of movement, especially with the large number of guests expected in the state.
To minimise inconvenience, alternative routes have been provided to ensure that both residents and visitors can move freely and that businesses can continue their daily activities without disruption.
The Ministry of Transport therefore appeals to the public for their cooperation and compliance, and urges everyone to support the collective effort to showcase Enugu as a city of order, innovation, and hospitality.
