Rapper Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday in Los Angeles after police allegedly discovered a firearm during a traffic stop.
According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when officers pulled over a vehicle in which Soulja Boy was a passenger. During the stop, police reportedly spotted a firearm inside the car. The rapper was subsequently taken into custody and booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Further details surrounding the reason for the stop and the type of firearm involved have not been disclosed. It also remains unclear whether any other individuals in the vehicle were detained or face charges.
The arrest came just hours after Soulja Boy was seen interacting with fans during the TMZ Celebrity Tour outside his store on Melrose Avenue. He had also shared clips from his birthday celebration held at Poppy nightclub in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
